About the most popular Japanese act in 2010s globally, how about One Ok Rock? I think they've been performing in more venues globally than Babymetal (well, no offense to Babymetal anyway.)
They definitely deserve to be in the conversation, but I think they lack a true "viral" moment for better or for worse, which is a marker of the period (unless Taka being in that Charli XCX video counts). Though, that has also probably helped them with longevity...they'll probably be doing more than any of the other acts mentioned ten years from now
