Kabukicho Is Always Kind Of A Zombie Wasteland

A man dressed as Deadpool approaches Shibuya’s Center Gai, Strong Zero in hand. It isn’t clear whether his detailed costume features a mouth hole to actually enjoy the beverage, or if it’s just a prop. Whatever the case, it’s still a perfect snapshot of the Saturday night before Halloween, playing out under massive white banners hung up over the neighborhood’s busiest street declaring “NO DRINKING ON THE STREET.”

The Merc with a Mouth moves through the crowd of largely un-costumed folks, plenty of them snapping photos of him. “Oh shit, police,” he exclaims. Indeed, two officers are standing right in front of him. Except their attention is elsewhere…focused on a street artist drawing caricatures of two Australian tourists, who are slowly slinking away from the scene. With the cops taking care of the menace that is some guy drawing pictures of people, Deadpool waltzes buy, Strong Zero proudly displayed.

Then a big party bus drove by behind all this, with a bunch of drunk people screaming at the Shibuya masses.
