City-pop-meets-vaporwave idol group Especia’s masterpiece Gusto turned ten this week. For the main post this week (uhhh hopefully), I’m prepping a look back on one of my favorite albums of the 21st century…which has required a lot of looking back at the group’s career. While the album celebrating an anniversary this week is the project’s finest moment, they have lots of other great moments scattered throughout its existence…and this post aims to celebrate some of them.

Also, to celebrate the birthday of one of my favorite albums ever, I’m leaning into something Especia did oh so well during their peak…wild marketing gimmicks! Do I wish I could somehow release a VHS tape version of this newsletter? You bet. But instead, I’m offering a 30-day free trail to this bonus writing. So “mount up” and take advantage of this not-subversive-at-all-give-it-a-shot campaign today…or risk feeling “foolish.”
